Networking meetings for deaf and hard of hearing set for the spring

Discussion topics range from the benefits of group support to knowing ADA rights and responsibilities. Information on available support systems and coping strategies for the hard of hearing individual and their families, friends and colleagues are also on the agenda.
The employed, unemployed, underemployed, students, volunteers and their guests are welcome to attend the meetings.
Captioning is set to be provided by several organizations including CSS, NJRelay, CaptionCall and New Jersey Division of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Additionally, assistive listening devices and sign language interpreting will be provided at each meeting.
Meetings are scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at BCC’s Briggs Road Center, 1000 Briggs Road, Suite 120, Mount Laurel.
On May 14, Traci Burton from Division of Deaf and Hard of Hearing is set to present All You Wanted to Know About DDHH, but Were Afraid to Ask. The benefits of technology for hard of hearing will also be covered.
June 11, Lori Timney of NJ Relay and CapTel Outreach Specialist is set to present New Jersey Relay and CapTel. Summer activities for hard of hearing individuals will also be covered.
July 9, Vicki Joy Sullivan from Career Success Solutions is set to present Mind, Body, and Soul: Well-Adjusted Hard of Hearing Individuals.
August 13, Self-Advocacy & Assertiveness: Knowing your ADA Rights and Responsibilities is set to be presented.
September 10, Success Stories of Hard of Hearing People is scheduled for the final meeting of the season.
Career Success Solutions Center is a of partner of Southern Regional Vocational Rehabilitation Services. The center provides services to enable eligible Vocational Rehabilitation clients who are deaf, hard of hearing, late deafened or who have cochlear implants to prepare for, obtain, and retain employment and lead independent lives.
